Hester
Jan 13, 1929 — Aug 21, 2026
Maysville
Alberta Lucille Hester, 97, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Alberta was born on January 13, 1929, in Greensburg, KY to Major and Suzanna Skaggs. She was later adopted and lovingly raised by Billy and Lucinda Daugherty of Halls Gap, Kentucky. Her faith remained an important part of her life. She attended and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church as a child and returned to the church in her later years. Alberta was first married to Carl Lee Hutchison, who preceded her in death. She later married Walter "Tiddle" Hester, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before his passing. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by brothers, Coy & Gene Skaggs, and a sister, Roxie Overman. Alberta found joy in working in the dirt and tending to her flowers. She had a strong way of making things happen and faced life's challenges with the firm belief that "this too shall pass." Spunky and fun, she loved to cut up and bring laughter to those around her. She had a gift for creating an environment where others felt welcome, loved, and at home. She especially loved keeping others fed and making sure no one ever got up from her table hungry. Alberta was blessed to watch her family grow across five generations. She is survived by her sister, Betty Becker, of Loveland, Ohio; her three children, Tina Kinney, of Maysville, KY, Becky (David) Robb, of Maysville, KY, and Jeff (Jamie) Hester of Lancaster, KY; her six grandchildren, Justin (Lishawna) Kinney, Lori Jo (Luke) Malone, David Shanklin (Hannah) Robb, Zachary (Leah) Hester, Holli (Kobie) Hoover, and Jake (Mackenzie) Hester. Her family continued to grow through seven great-grandchildren, Sage (Garrett) Remley, Hunter Kinney, Colton Kinney, Braxton Malone, Carter Malone, Harriet Hester, and Calvin Hoover; and two great-great-grandsons, Liam and Levi Remley. Alberta's 97 years were marked by the relationships she built, the family she loved, and the memories she created with those closest to her. Her life and legacy will continue through her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2026 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Revs. Steve Horn & David Conrad. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be John Ball, Ralph Feldman, Mark May, Keith & Kevin Middleton, Rusty Clark, Johnny Newton & Rusty Sebastian.
