Obituary

Aubrie Lamar Duncan, 73, of North Homestead Ln. in Garrard County, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at his home. Born Saturday, July 5, 1941, in Tallapoosa, Georgia , he was the son of the late A.B. & Winnie Gillham Duncan. Lamar was a clinical Pharmacist for Lake Cumberland Hospital. His other accomplishments were he was a retired commander of the Public Health Service, received a distinguished medal award for stopping an Anthrax outbreak, a former fire fighter in Bernalillio County, New Mexico, a flight instructor for the United States Air Force at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, member of the civil Air Patrol, Graduate of Howard College and University of Georgia, a youth pastor, deacon and seminary and member of the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. His survivors include his wife Linda Ann Petrilli Duncan, three sons, David (Judy) Duncan of Las Cruces, N.M., Christopher (Stephanie ) Duncan of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama, Sean (Michelle) Petrilli of Lancaster, three daughters, Valerie Dent of Tuscaloosa, AL., Liesel (Bill) McCullough of Summerville, Fl., Nicole Burkholder of Falcon, CO., 18 grandchildren, and two sisters, Shirley Garrett of Villa Rica , Georgia and Mary Mendoza of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Lamar's request for cremation rites have been honored. A visitation and gathering of friends will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church by Rev. Cole Caven. The family will receive friends starting at 1PM Saturday at the Church. Burial with military rites will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers contributions may go to the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church Mission Trip fund or the Wounded Warrior Project.
