Dr. Carl B. Spivey , 89, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at UK Medical Center.Born Wednesday, April 13, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida, he was the son of the late Bascom Carl & Anna Crews Spivey. He was an Assistant Superintendent of Research & Development for the Fayette County School System, he was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in WWII, was a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church and was an actor in association with the Lexington Musical Theater, & Paragon Theater. He starred in the motion picture "Stolen Moments", produced by Asbury College. He was a member of the Navy League & Aviation Museum, was a Kentucky Colonel, & was a graduate of Asbury College & Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Naylor Spivey, & three daughters; Denise (Bradford) Stocker, Aletha (Jim) Turner, & Shelley (Donald) Kozlowsky, all of Lexington. Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky with Rev. Bill Moore officiating & burial following at Lancaster Cemetery in Garrard County. Pallbearers include Sean, Ross, & Ryan Stocker, Ian, & Chase Kozlowsky, & Spenser Conner. Honorary pallbearers will be Brooke, Whitney, & Lindsey Conner, & Chelsea Kozlowsky. Visitation will be 9:30AM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Church until service time.
