Dwight E. Ray, 79, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, June 09, 2020. He was born June 13, 1940 to Holman & Nannie B. Walton Ray. He was delivered at their home on Poor Ridge. Dwight was the second son of four boys; older brother, Bobby Ray, late infant brother, Eath Edward Ray & younger brother, Danny Ray. He married Rose Lee Ivy on January 20, 1960. Together they raised three beautiful daughters; Glenda, Teresa & Sandy. Dwight was a lifelong mechanic. He worked in Buckeye from 1974 to 1990. In May of 1990, he moved his business to Lancaster under the name known to many; Precision Auto. He was Chief of Buckeye Fire Dept. for many years, where he built the first truck they ever had. He & his wife also ran Buckeye Grocery together, where many laughs and good times were shared. Dwight was also a farmer for most of his life . His parents bought their farm on Sugar Creek in 1954. He tended it by his daddy's side until his passing, after which he took care of it for his mother until her passing. Dwight spent many happy years on Sugar Creek, always speaking of it fondly. He was a devoted son, taking care of his mother any way he could, which was part of who he was. Dwight was kind, giving, and helpful to so many. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother; daughter Glenda Rose Ray Amon & a great-granddaughter, our sweet angel, Anna Gail Howard. Dwight is survived by his wife of sixty years, Rose Ray; beloved daughters, Teresa Harness, Sandy D. (Charles) Crandall; brothers Danny (Amy) Ray, Bobby Ray; granddaughter, April Howard (Shannon), that thinks he hung the moon ; grandson, Corey McQuerry (Jayde), two great-grandchildren precious to him, Brayden Lucas Howard & Shelby Paige Howard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Gutenson officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Walton, Frankie Hurt, Kenny Walton, Gerald Walton, Dan Waters & Elwood Scott. Honorary pallbearers include Danny Ray, Bobby Ray, Randy Prewitt, Kenneth Anderson & Christine Moberly. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 PM Friday, June 12, 2020 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
