Elmer D. Bishop, 79, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born February 23, 1941, he was a son of the late Hersel Lee & Martha Tolley Bishop. Elmer was retired from Matthews Conveyer as an engineer, was an Air Force veteran and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Stempfly Bishop, five brothers, William Boyd, Charles, Hersel, Jr., Victor & Donald Bishop, as well as four sisters, Marjorie Hacker, Maxine Napier, Sara Frances Bishop, & Melba Jean Bishop. His survivors include his wife, Barbara Hopkins Hatfield of Lancaster, sons, Bryan (Lois) Bishop of Garrard County, Scott (Lesa) Bishop of Lexington, step son, Wendell (Karen) Hatfield of Lancaster, step-daughter, Sherry (Mack) Carter of Danville, a sister, Phyllis Lainhart, of Richmond, a brother (Ronnie (Rita) Bishop of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren Erin Bishop, Derek Jenkins, Ben (Crystal) Carter and Kaylee (Alex) Wall, and one great grandchild, Cadence Carter.
