Obituary

Elsie Sowder Tatem, 97, of Hill N Dale Drive in Lancaster, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Landmark of Lancaster. Born May 14, 1920 in Bell County, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Nancy Owens Sowder. She had been a homemaker and former employee of Stanhope Products & N.C.R. and a member of the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Tatem, and a daughter, Pauline Honeyman. Her survivors include a son, Terry (Ellen) Tatem of Nicholasville, two stepdaughters, Geraldine Brown of Elmira, New York and Katheryn Wilson of Dayton, Ohio, a brother, Raymond Sowder of Erlanger, two sisters, Marie Black of Lancaster and Hazel Cornett of London, as well as three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Lancaster Cemetery by Rev. Jerry Browning. In lieu of flowers contributions may go to the Forks of Dix River Church.
