George T. Gilliam, 86 of Lancaster, husband of Nina Preston Gilliam, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. Born Wednesday, January 31, 1934 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Albert & Revor Tapp Gilliam. George was a farmer, & a retired Foreman for Bastin Lumber. He was a United States Army veteran & was an active member at Scott's Fork Christian Church where he was an Elder, a Sunday School teacher & a song leader. He also enjoyed fishing, coon hunting & gardening. He liked to tell stories & was known to be a "people person". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Raymond Gilliam, Albert Gilliam, Jr., Homer Lee Gilliam & a sister, Barbara Carol Carter. Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Becky (Danny) Burton, Pam (Tim) May & Georgia (Clay) Parsons, all of Lancaster; brothers, Vernon Clay Gilliam, of Lancaster, Darrell Wayne (Sue) Gilliam, of Melbourn, Florida; grandchildren, Charisse (Mike) Epley, Marie (Dave) Morgan, Emily (Justin) Powell, Justin May, Travis (Courtney) May, Abby (Chris) Davis, Zack Parsons, as well as ten great-grandchildren and two loving caregivers Cora (Tootsie) Grant & Jill Buckner.
Private
funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Odis Clark officiating and burial following at Scott's Fork Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin May, Travis May, Justin Powell, Zack Parsons, Chris Davis, Mike Epley, Aidan Foley & Dave Morgan. Honorary pallbearers include the elders & deacons at Scotts Fork Christian Church. There will be no public visitation. We apologize for any inconveniences during this time.
