Obituary

Ida Belle Kurtz Hurt, 90, wife of the late Frank Hurt, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Landmark of Lancaster. Born on Tuesday, April 11, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P. & Mary Giles Kurtz. Along with her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Max, Bob, Fred & Harold Kurtz; sisters, Velma Carter, Vera Patterson, Alice Stocker,  Mary Underwood, Dollie Graham & Norma DeVore.

Ida graduated from Camp Dick Robinson High School & went on to receive her nursing degree from Nazareth School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 43 years & spent most of her career at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Throughout her career, Ida was active in the Central Kentucky Nurses Association & served as a governor appointee to the Kentucky Board of Mental Health. She & Frank were members of the Order of the Eastern Star & she continued those charitable endeavors for the remainder of her life. Ida was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.

Ida is survived by her children, Eddie H. Hurt, of Colorado Spring, Colorado, Ricky Hurt, of Richmond & Tami (Kenny) McDaniel, of Stanford; brother, Clell Kurtz, of Greenwood, Indiana; sisters, Edith Matthews & Juanita Wright, both of Louisville & Betty Wooldridge, of Danville; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Tessa) Hurt, Matthew Hurt, Katie Hurt, Matt (Jenny) McDaniel, Lauren (James) Cheatham & Amanda Hensley; seven great-grandchildren, Brian, Allie, Kylee, Makaela, Nolan, Shane & Kyle, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Ramey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Kurtz officiating & burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jonathan Hurt, Matthew Hurt, Matt McDaniel, James Cheatham, Tommy Simpson, Jeff Kurtz & Andy Godsey. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to the Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324 New York, NY 10087.
