Rev. James E. Lowery, 67, of Lancaster, passed away Monday , May 30, 2016 at his home. Born Sunday, June 6, 1948 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Eddie Lowery & Geneva Day Matlock. Jim had been an employee of Red Wing Shoe Company and a longtime minister of the Nazarene Faith serving in area churches over the years. He had most recently been attending Preachersville United Methodist Church and was a Vietnam War Army veteran. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by a stillborn infant brother, McKinley Lowery and his mother and father in law; the late James & Edith Baker. His survivors include his wife, Judy Baker Lowery, two sons: James Edward (Yolanda) Lowery, Jr; Jason O'Brien (Christy) Lowery of Danville; one daughter, Danielle (David) Ward of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Roberta (Darrell) Pingleton of Cartersville, and Charlotte (Bobby) Anglin of Berea; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother in law; Jimmy Baker, and five sister in laws; Patricia Shearer, Jo Ann Tudor, Sue Poynter, Billie Jean Tillett & Bonnie Denham. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2016 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Revs. Lanny Hazelwood and Daryl Hodge. Burial with military rites will follow in Lancaster Cemetery, with assistance from the Patriot Guard Riders and the Caswell Saufley Post # 18 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Wade & Monty Lowery, Harold Sanders, Billy Denham, Roger Tillett, Jackie Tudor, James Poynter & Jimmy Baker. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Hume, Gary Fitzgerald, Gary Irvine, Jack Rainwater, Norman Wiles, Gunner Lowery, Larry Wesley, Alvy Phelps, Christian & Cayden Ward, John Coffman, Grant Lucas , Bobby Anglin, Darrell Pingleton & George Day.
