James Martin "Marty" McQuerry, 58 of Lancaster, husband of Donna Moberly McQuerry, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born Friday, October 09, 1959 in Lancaster, he was a son of Earl, & the late Nancy King McQuerry. Marty was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and was an avid Louisville Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed Nascar, & liked to write & sing. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Paxton McQuerry. On Sunday, Marty joined in a celebration lunch with his family, and it was a good day. Early Monday morning, he passed away unexpectedly. He was tough on the outside, but had a heart of gold, much like his mother, Nancy, & he loved us all. Marty had a gift of story telling, & could make a simple ride home sound like the biggest & most interesting adventure. His family will miss him dearly. Survivors other than his wife Donna include his father, Earl McQuerry; sister, Rachel (the late Gary) Cole; son, Elijah Martin (Morgan) McQuerry, of Versailles; step-sons, Matthew (Valerie) Bussell, of Broadhead, Blake Dawson, of Lancaster; daughter, Scarlet (Justin) Smothers, of Danville; grandchildren, Lucy Sebastian, Sloane McQuerry, Karley Bussell, & one niece, Abby (Brett) Higgins. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home, with burial following at Paint Lick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elijah, Allen & Keith McQuerry, Justin Smothers, Brett Higgins, Robert & Gary Gaffney, & Mike Killion. Honorary pallbearers include, Brandon Moberly, Fred Smith, Ronnie Starnes, Gerry Freeman, Kenny Cox, Roy Sebastian, Amie Brazee, Blake Dawson, & Matthew Bussell.
