Jerrold K.
Whitson
Sep 19, 1969 — Mar 7, 2025
Lancaster
On March 7, 2025, Jerrold (Jerry) Kaye Whitson, age 55, peacefully entered the gates of heaven after a short battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Whether family, co-workers, friends, or perfect strangers, Jerry made everyone feel at home; his heart was wide open and full of love. If he did not first meet you with his kindness, you were hooked by his gift of a well-timed punchline. Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, playing his guitar, and indiscriminately beating anyone in a sweeping good hand of cards—but his true gift was his voice; a gift he shared freely, bringing comfort and joy to those around him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Donald H. Whitson. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Angie (Hunt) Whitson; daughter, Desaree Whitson; son Justin (Linda) Whitson; and sweet grandson, Odin Whitson. Jerry is also survived by his mother, Margarett (Brickey) Whitson; brother, Jeff (Mandy) Turner; sister, Jennifer (Jody) Winkle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to friends, family, and all those who have offered prayers and support to Jerry, Angie, Desaree, and Justin throughout this journey.
A special acknowledgment goes to Alvin and Kevin Brickey for their unwavering guidance and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2025, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Justin Whitson, Jeff Turner, Marc Hunt, Mike Hunt, Donald Ray Hubbard, Donovan Humphrey, Kevin Brickey, and Alex Turner. Honorary pallbearers include Marc Hunt, Jr., Matthew Hunt, Odin Whitson, Bobby Hunt, and Jordan Tish. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the funeral home.
Though Jerry's time with us was far too short, his memory will live on in the songs he sang, the stories he told, and the laughter that will forever ring in our hearts. He leaves behind a world brighter, warmer, and more loving for having been here. Rest well, Jerry—the waters are calm, and your voice echoes in the heavens. Friends and family my leave condolences or special memories on his tribute wall at www.ramsey-young.com.
