Jesse Carl Smith, 72, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Lexington. Born March 17, 1944 in Cumberland , Kentucky, he was a son of the late Spencer & Belvia Hall Smith. Jesse was a retired coal miner, an Army veteran and a member of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Claude Morris, John Robert Morris, Rand Morris, David Smith, William Hayward Smith & Gary Smith. His survivors include his wife: Mary Adams Smith of Lancaster; three sons: Robert (Wanda) Smith of Lancaster; Kevin (Carla) Smith of Lancaster; Anthony Himes of Ohio; three daughters: Colleen (Darby) Gill of Lancaster; Penny Himes of Nicholasville; Stephanie Himes of Lancaster; three brothers: Aaron Morris of Russell Springs, Dennis (Claudia) Smith & Larry (Vickie) Smith, both of Nicholasville; one sister: Sue (James) Miles of Cumberland, Ky., eight grandchildren & three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Bro. Herman Hall , with nephews serving as pallbearers. Burial with military rites will take place at the Smith Family Cemetery in Bryantsville. Visitation will be from 6-9 Friday, January 27th at the funeral home.
