John C. Maggard, 62, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at his home. Born October 14, 1956 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Jessie Irvin & Reva Shell Maggard. John was a tree trimmer, a coal miner & a member of Antioch Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jenny Cruse Maggard, four brothers & two sisters. Survivors include brothers, George (Dana) Maggard, Irvin Maggard & Mike "Smirkey" Maggard, all of Lancaster; sisters, Martha Maggard & Genevieve (Jeff) Trent both of Lancaster, as well as several nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Antioch Christian Church with Rev. George Maggard officiating & burial following at Dix River Cemetery. Pallbearers include Smirkey Maggard, Irvin Maggard, Jeffrey Trent, Steven Maggard, Kevin Rhodus, Bill Cress & Jr. Day.
