Obituary

Lee James Kurtz, 93, of Old Davistown School Road in Lancaster, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015, at his residence. Lee was born December 6, 1921, in Garrard County to the late Handy Cassell & Mattie Jane Brown Kurtz. He had been a World War II Army veteran, a longtime employee of Cowden Manufacturing and a member of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta "Rodie" Coffey Kurtz ; five sisters; Elizabeth Peterman, Lucille Crutchfield, Margaret Edwards, Nettie Scott & Lowie Clary. His survivors include a sister; Bessie Whittaker Keller of Knoxville, Tenn. , and thirteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Ramsey - Young Funeral Home with Bill Dayton, minister of the Mercer church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Clary, Jay Fortner, Paul East, Mike, Jimmy & Eddie Coffey, with Jeff East, Billy Pendleton, Daniel Gum, & Ryan Fortner serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, September 28th at the funeral home.
