Mary Kurtz Underwood, 89, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Landmark of Lancaster. Born January 26, 1932 in Mercer County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Price & Mary Giles Kurtz. Mary had been an area manager for Stanley Home Products for over 57 years before recently retiring. She was the widow of Homer J. Underwood and had been a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.  She was also preceded in death by  four brothers; Max, Fred, Bob & Harold Kurtz, and  four sisters; Velma Carter, Vera Patterson, Alice Stocker & Dollie Graham.

She is survived one brother; Clell (Phyllis) Kurtz of Greenwood, In.,  five sisters;  Edith Pearl Matthews and Juanita Wright of Louisville, Ida Hurt of Lancaster,  Norma DeVore  of Stanford,  Betty (Bobby) Woodridge of  Danville, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Rev. Mark Kurtz with burial following in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM Monday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Garrard County Food Pantry or Salvation Army.
