Mildred Ruth Poynter Grubbs, 85, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2015. She passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Eugene Jackson Grubbs. They were married for 57 years. A life-long resident of Garrard County, Mildred was born December 22, 1929, to Donald Ison and Dora Ellen Walton Poynter, at the home of her grandmother Maggie Mae Poynter. She was a member of Victory Christian Church and enjoyed her affiliation with the Maple Avenue Church of Christ and appreciated Bro Frank and Viola Clever. She was a homemaker, and worked for the old Garrard County Senior Citizens Home for many years. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family. Survivors include one brother, Arnold Poynter of Austin, Texas, one daughter Ruth Ann (Joseph) Kelly of Nicholasville, four sons; Larry (Teresa) of Henryville, Indiana, Keith (Debbie R), Randy (Jennifer), Gerald (Tonya), all of Garrard County. Also daughter-in-law, Debbie Lee Grubbs. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren Shirley Bledsoe, Michael Grubbs, Ryan Grubbs, Amy Logan, Brandy Grubbs Poynter, Stephen Grubbs, Anthony Henderson, David Eli Grubbs II, Nathan Henderson, Rebekah Henderson, Elijah Jenkins, Hailey Grubbs, and Jaden Kelly. Also 19 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Mary Frances Grubbs, and her brother-in-law, Sam Grubbs. She was also Aunt to 44 nieces and nephews. She was blessed by three special care-givers, Kim Grubbs, Kim Durham, and Jessica Schmiers. In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by two sons; Phillip Eugene in 1951, and David Eli in 2012, and one grandson, Jared Carter Grubbs in 2012. Visitation 5 - 9, Tuesday, and Funeral Services 1:00 PM Wednesday, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Bro. Frank Cleaver and Bro. Isaac Hall officiating. Burial in the Lancaster Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Michael Grubbs, Ryan Grubbs, Stephen Grubbs, Eli Grubbs, Anthony Henderson, Nathan Henderson, Elijah Jenkins, and Davey Logan. Honorary pallbearers are Shirley Bledsoe, Amy Logan, Brandy Poynter, Rebekah Henderson, Hailey Grubbs, Jayden Kelly, Brittany Slider, Brittany Bledsoe, Jennifer Bledsoe, Ricky Bledsoe, Porscha Anthony, Lexie Grubbs, Jackson Grubbs, Emmitt Grubbs, Bo Grubbs, Ty Grubbs, Davian Logan, Sis Logan, Daylan Logan, Trey Grubbs, Destiny Grubbs, Blayklei Grubbs, Trayce Poynter, Jaghyr Wood, Pearce Molen, David Enlow, Abigail Enlow, Lillie Bledsoe, Noah Daffron, Bella Slider, Tristan Johnson and Avan Johnson Mildred requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy should be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
