Obituary

Nerva Dailey, 86, born May 12, 1937, in Leslie County, has gone to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 22, 2024.  Nerva is the widow of the late Paul Tracy Dailey. She was preceded in death by her parents McKinley and Juda Day; four brothers, Rufus, Denver, Henry, and Charlie Day; two sisters Eva Friend & Geneva Matlock; and three great-grandsons, Timothy, Jamie, and Owen Bratcher. Survivors include three brothers, Joe, George, and Johnny (Sandra) Day; a sister, Rachel (Garland) Cummins; five children, Margaret (Charles) Burton, Tim (Melinda) Dailey, Tracy (Tommy) Gooch, McKinley (Kim) Dailey, and Paula (Eddie Ray) Cantrell; fourteen grandchildren, Sheri, Chris, Matthew, Casey, Lindsey, Daniel, Jamie, Jenny, Holly, Jordan, Parker, Zakariah, Coty, and Jesse; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Hagen, Kaydence, Keegan, Cliffton Jr., Cassara, Alexa, Austin, Paytin, Cadin, Dawsin, Emma, Ava, Lilly, Bennett, Ruby, Ella, Lila, Jacob, William, Natalie, Conner, Gunner, Tyler, Taylor, Trista, Raylan, and baby Dailey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tripp and Casin.

The union of Paul and Nerva began a journey of sixty-six years together. They leave to continue their journey a family whom they loved dearly, teaching by example the love of Jesus Christ. Choosing to serve God first, then one another, and then family and friends. Their presence will always be with us in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 26, 2024, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Browning officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Chris Hume, Matthew Dailey, Daniel Pilcher, Jordan Dailey, Parker Dailey, Zakariah Dailey, Coty Cantrell, and Jesse Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers include Sheri Yocum, Casey Hall, Lindsey Dailey, Jamie Bratcher, Jenny Schuler, and Holly Hendrix. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM — 8:00 PM Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
