Odell C. Kirkpatrick, 87, of Stanford, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. Born Saturday, October 01, 1932 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Everett & Laura Miracle Kirkpatrick. Odell enjoyed golfing, softball, hunting & all other outdoor sports. He owned & operated Kirkpatrick Excavating & attended Stanford Baptist Church where he was Deacon Emeritus, after serving as an active deacon for many years. He served as a messenger, representing Stanford Baptist Church, in the Lincoln County Baptist Association for several years. Odell helped spread the word of God as a Gideon. He was a United States Airforce veteran & a member of Cedar Creek Sportsman's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kirkpatrick; sister, Jean Young Gerlach & brothers, Hugh Kirkpatrick & Henry Lee Kirkpatrick. Survivors include sons, Roger (Susan) Kirkpatrick, Dale (Linda) Kirkpatrick, all of Stanford; daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Sergent, of Danville; brother, Noah (Mary Lou) Kirkpatrick, of Stanford; brother-in-law, Gene Smith, of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin (Tiffany) Kirkpatrick, Kris Kirkpatrick, Anthony Sergent, Alex Sergent, Kaitlin (Alex) Dougherty, Rachel (the late David) Harrison; great-grandchildren, Jackson, AnnaGrace, & Ella Kate Kirkpatrick & Elijah Harrison. Odell was also looking forward to the birth of his great-granddaughter, Lydia Harrison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Stanford Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Gutenson & Rev. Justin Carter officiating, with burial following at Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Full military rites will be performed by Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Kevin, Kris and Jackson Kirkpatrick, Alex and Anthony Sergent, Alex Dougherty & Steve Feese. Honorary pallbearers include the deacons at Stanford Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until service time on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the church. In accordance with the health mandate from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, all visitors will be required to wear face coverings and exhibit proper social distancing practices.
