Ralph Gilbert
Parson
May 28, 1931 — Mar 3, 2022
Lancaster
Ralph Gilbert Parson passed from this life on Thursday, March 3 surrounded by those who were privileged to call him father and grandfather.
Ralph was born on May 28, 1931 in Lancaster, Kentucky to Gilbert and Matilda Logan Parson. He was a 1950 graduate of Buckeye High School. Ralph, or Tiny as he was known by his teammates, was a standout basketball player, lettering all four years. Ralph married Ada, his school sweetheart in 1951 and they shared their lives for the next 70 years. Ralph worked as the Superintendent for Camp Nelson Stone for thirty years and retired from that position in the late 1980's. Even after retirement, rock quarries called to him and he worked for several, retiring again from SRM Concrete in Nicholasville, Kentucky when he was in his 80's. Ralph's life among rocks was evident in the elaborate patio works that he created over the years and in the collections around his home. Ralph was also an avid golfer and a member of the Dix River Country Club for 20 years.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ada (Davis) Parson, brother Lemorris, and sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his daughter Adrienne Parson Gastineau, son-in-law Rick Gastineau, granddaughter Nikki (Andrew) Gastineau-Dodd, Micah (Melissa) Gastineau, great-grandaughter Kaitlyn Gastineau and sister Rosalee Parson. Also surviving are three nieces; Nelma (Wayne) Martin, Donna Parson, and Karen (Ricky) Parson Smith and one nephew Coy Lunsford.
Funeral services will be held at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home in Lancaster, Kentucky. Visiting hours are 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5 followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are Micah Gastineau, Nikki Gastineau-Dodd, Wayne Martin, Coy Lunsford, Mike McQuery, John Robert Allen, Tim Nunnemaker, and Bob Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of SRM Concrete, John Smith, and Jimmy Denny.
The family is broken-hearted by Ralph's sudden departure but take heart in knowing that he has joined "his girl" on the other side. What a joyous reunion indeed!
