Raymond "Dart" Davis, 89, of Ky. Hwy. 1247 in Highland, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends. Born January 8, 1927 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William Thomas & Chloe Della Carrier Davis. He had been a lifelong farmer, had been the owner-operator of the Faulkner's Motel with his wife for over 25 years, a World War II Army veteran, and a faithful member of Highland Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan Lee Carrier & William Floyd Davis. His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joann Reed Davis, a son, Dennis (Gloria) Davis of Stanford, a daughter; Kim (Douglas) May of Highland, five grandchildren; Mindy May Pennington, Chad Fitzgerald Davis, Alan Davis May, Kyle Reed Davis & Rebecca May Garcia , as well as eight great grandchildren and two more great grandchildren on the way. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Highland Methodist Church by Dr. Quentin Scholtz & Mr. Danny Ford. Burial with military rites by the Caswell Saufley Post # 18 will take place in the Highland Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chaz & Rebecca Garcia, Mindy & Darin Pennington, Shelby Newland Reed, Chad Davis, Alan May & Kyle Davis. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 AM until service time Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may go to the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
