Obituary

Richard M. "Tommy" Arnold, 84, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born in Garrard County to the late Logan and Lillian (Kelley) Arnold, Sr. He retired from Cowden Manufacturing in 1991 after 37 years of employment. He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed farming and raising a garden. He was a dedicated member of Lancaster Baptist Church for many years where he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served his Lord in many ways. He was the devoted husband of Betty (McCulley) Arnold for 48 years and is survived by her and their daughter, Kelly (Chris) Cox of Richmond, KY, a daughter, Teresa Owczarski of Fort Worth, TX, and a son, Richard Arnold, Jr. of Toledo, OH; one brother, Logan (Betty) Arnold, Jr., four sisters, Betty Jo Wood (Dr. Jim Gulley), Margaret Simpson and Virginia Ray, all of Lancaster, and Alice (Lon) Gilbert, of Danville, KY; five grandchildren, Logan, Katelyn and Luke Cox, Jeremy Owczarski, and Kimberly (Sean) Conlan, two great-grandchildren, Gillian and Finian Conlan and many nieces and nephews, as well as a beloved pet, Snickers. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Middlekamp Casey of Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at Lancaster Baptist Church from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Lancaster Baptist Church Rev. Bryce McCulley and Dr. Harold Best will officiate. Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Madison Health and Rehabilitation Complex, as well as the staff of Hospice Compassionate Care for lovingly caring for Tommy. Pallbearers are: Keith Bourne, Gary Poynter, Roy Noe, Roy Gibson, Jackie Powers, Phil Murphy, Billy Boyd, John Clark, Billy Wayne Lane. Honorary pallbearers are: Raymond Hatfield, Ronald McWhorter, Harold Meadows, Sky Tudor, Lon Gilbert and Dr. Jim Gulley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Care Plus, Compassionate Care Center, 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, KY 40403, or Lancaster Baptist Church.
