Ruby Brown, age 86, passed away surrounded by her family on June 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born in Kentucky on August 31
st
, 1931 to Burton and Cora Clouse. She was the second oldest of four siblings, preceded in death by her brothers William (Cecil) Clouse, Jim Clouse and is survived by her sister, Catherine Sturgill. Throughout her life, she continuously shared her unwavering sense of humor, her unconditional love for her family and an authentic love for life itself.
She graduated in May 1949 from Camp Dick Robinson High School as Vice President of her senior class and an active member of her school community - participating in Drama Club, Glee Club, Pep Club and 4-H Club. Ruby was Private First Class in the United States Women's Army Corps from 1951 to 1953 as a Personnel Technician in the 3
rd
Armor Division. She was a trailblazer in her field, working for two decades at American Motors Corporation (Chrysler) and reaching the title of Computer Technician as the first female to reach that role.
Later in life, she became a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Color Guard in Brighton, Michigan and won several awards. She also enjoyed her role as a volunteer for the Livingston County Handicapped Patrol Unit, patrolling the county for Handicapped Parking violations.
Above all, her favorite role in life was being an amazing Mom to her two daughters, Velda Knudson and Rose Malysz, and "Granny Ruby" to her four grandchildren-Jamie (Clark) Samples, Katie Clark, Jacquelyn (Knudson) Nelson and Steven Knudson. She adored the newest addition to the family, Edison Samples, as her first great grandchild and was thrilled to learn of her second great grandchild, Anastasia Ruby Nelson, due to arrive in August.
Ruby leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, hilarious sayings and heartwarming memories that will last forever. She has requested that donations be made in her name to the VFW Post 4357 in Brighton, Michigan. Her funeral will be held in Lancaster, Kentucky for family and friends on Saturday, June 30

at the Ramsey Funeral Home at 12:30pm with a graveside service at 1pm.
