Ruth Currens Broughton, 87, of Harmon's Lick Rd. in Garrard County, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her residence. Born August 6, 1926 in Woodford County, she was a daughter of the late Grover & Mary Jones Currens. She had been an employee of Cowden's Manufacturing , a farmer, and was a member of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband , Chester Broughton, Sr. , a grandchild , two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Stanley ( Brenda) Broughton of Lancaster, Chester "Buddy" Broughton, Jr. of Garrard County, two daughters, Delores Kersey of Lancaster & Judy (Earl) Tankersley of Reading, Ohio, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a sister in law, Florence McQueary of Lancaster, her caretaker, Pat Bolton, and a special friend, Joyce Combs. Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Ramsey Funeral Home by Mr. Phillip Begley, with burial following in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will grandsons and great grandsons. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may go to Heritage Hospice of Gentiva Home Health.
