Sarah M. Long Shearer, 88, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at her residence. Born September 21, 1927 in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Emit & Martha Turner Long. She was a retired health care worker from the Royal Manor Nursing Home in Nicholasville and a member of the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Shearer , a son, Kennith Long Shearer, and a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Shearer. Her survivors include sons: Jeff ( Dana) Shearer of Lancaster; and Joe (Melissa) Shearer of Danville; four daughters: Betty (Carroll) Williams of Harrodsburg; Martha (Larry) Lane of Spencer, Iowa; Mollie Lane & Suetta (Gary) Ledford, both of Lancaster; a brother: Emit Long, Jr. of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Browning with burial following in Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Joe, Cory & Jimmy Shearer, Jantsen Ledford & Danny Lee Curtsinger. Honorary bearers will be Landon Curtsinger, Dylan Kidder, Scotty Williams, Brittany Thomas, Angie Denny, Chrystal Boyd, Sarah Gail Crane, Rebecca Blansett, Danielle Shearer, Brandy Sandvig, Lisa Ann Hawley & McKenzie Shearer.
