Obituary

Thelma Parsons Starnes, 94, of Paint Lick, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, in Berea. Born March 24, 1924, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Harrison Parson and Virgie Bryant Parson. She was a homemaker and former school teacher and was part owner of Starnes Bros. Service Station. She was a member of Disciples of Christ Paint Lick Christian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Superintendent, President of Christian Women's Fellowship, Choir member and Deaconess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Starnes; four brothers Ernest Parson, Cledus Parson, William Earl Parson and Bennie Parson; and three sisters Mayme Lear, Carrie Pingleton and Edith Dotson. Her survivors include her two daughters, Cheryl Starnes of Lexington, and Linda S. Cox of Lancaster; sisters Beatrice Towery of Marion, Indiana and Opal Howard of Berea; two grandchildren Ean Whitney (Greg) Mason and Hillary Jay Cox (Jayme) Vanoy ; and two great-grandchildren Henry Jaymes Vanoy and Lucy Bryant Mason. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Mr. Kent Mason and Mrs. Whitney Cox Mason, with burial following in Paint Lick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Parson, Lloyd Parson, Charlie Parson, Tommy Parson, Jaime Parson, Randall G. Thacker, David Pingleton, Donnie Pingleton and Michael Parson. Honorary bearers will be G. B. Shell and Roy Rhodus. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, August 3rd at the funeral home.
