Albert D. Ray

Albert D. Ray, 80, of Nicholasville, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on Monday, October 4, 1943 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Herman Lee & Cora Della Middleton Ray. Albert was a plumber by trade & was a member of Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran during the Vietnam War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Miller Ray.

Survivors include sons, Albert (Tonya) Ray, Jr. of Maine & William Harold (Sherry) Hartman, of Richmond; daughter, Sheryl Ann Mastin, of Nicholasville; brothers, Donald (the late Gladys) Ray, of Louisville & Wilbert (Carolyn) Ray, of Lancaster; sisters, Virgie Helen Wolfe, of Massachusetts & Mary Margaret (the late William) Sebastian, of Nicholasville, 8 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Howell officiating and burial following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be the honor guard of Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Honorary pallbearers include Nicholas Stamm. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the church.
