Arthur “June” Gaffney, 91, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Landmark of Lancaster. He was born to the late Arthur & Nora Payne Gaffney on March 29, 1932, in Garrard County. June was a seasoned farmer, a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and a Deacon for 32 years.
Aside from his parents, June is preceded in death by a son, the late Gary Gaffney; brothers, the late Leslie Gaffney & the late Floyd Gaffney; sisters, the late Grace Gibson, the late Elizabeth Wren, the late Katherine McIntire, the late Evangaline Burton, & the late Allene Gaines. Survivors include his wife, Janie McQuerry Gaffney, of Crab Orchard; a son, Robert (Mary) Gaffney, of Garrard County; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Gaffney, of Paint Lick; sisters, Elsie Davis, of Lancaster & Joyce Hunt, of Versailles; grandchildren, Josh (Kathey) Gaffney, Jason (Tori) Gaffney, Ben (Lou Anne) Gaffney, & Sara (Gary) Coffman; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with the burial following at Paint Lick Cemetery and Rev. Johnny Baker & Rev. Jami Hamiton officiating. Pallbearers include Jason Gaffney, Josh Gaffney, Benjamin Gaffney, Gary Coffman, Luke Gaffney, & Zeke Gaffney. Honorary pallbearers include Larry & Donna Strickland, Terry & Sherry Gregory, Good Hope Men’s Sunday School Class, and all his nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
