Bertie King Obituary

Bertie Rae Turner King, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on May 3, 2024, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born to the late Ezie Bert & Ruth Preston Turner on September 2, 1944, in Lancaster. Bertie was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church, was passionate quilter, and homemaker. She worked as a librarian for Garrard County Public Library.

Aside from her parents, Bertie is preceded in death by her husband; John Allen King. Survivors include a son, John (Leslie) King, Jr., of Lancaster; a daughter, Carol King (Tracy) Taylor, of Danville; a step-daughter, Susan Herrick, of Lancaster; a sister, Joetta Ellis, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Mayme Taylor, Kristy (Mark) Anderson, Lincoln King, Josh Dennis, and Drake King; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2024, at the funeral home with burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kenneth Ellis, Randy Ellis, Freddie Edgington, William David King, Kevin Brickey, Stephen King, Jon Handcock, and Willie Ray. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time Friday, May 10, 2024, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
