Billy Allen Denny, 83 of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Baptist Health in Lexington. Born Tuesday, December 13, 1932 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Sabie Lee & Ruby Clark Denny. He worked as an engineer for the Kentucky Department of Highways for 32 years, taking pride in his work overseeing the construction of many well known roadways and bridges in the state of Kentucky. He was a sports enthusiast, playing in the semi-pro Bluegrass Baseball League and on the Southern Belle softball team. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Lancaster Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Lee Frink. Survivors include his wife, Ruth McQuerry Denny, a daughter, Jill (Mike) Stevens of Lancaster, a brother, Bobby (June) Denny, and grandsons Will (Joanna) Stevens and Drew (Jennifer) Stevens. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Best officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Douglas Clark, Jimmy Lynn Teater, Barry Henderson, Johnny Bolton, Felix Reynolds, & Elroy Hulett. Honorary Pallbearers include Mack "Chigger" Hulett, Jim Baird, Ronnie Hester, Donald Wooldridge, Bill Ledford, Dorlan Grimes, Roger Coffey, Roger Lennington, & Walter "Tittle" Hester, Ronnie Nunemaker & Tim Nunemaker. Visitation will be 4-8:00PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may go to the Family Life Center at Lancaster Baptist Church.
