Brooks Ray Gaffney

Brooks Ray Gaffney, 95, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Morning Pointe Senior Living of Danville. Born on Tuesday, October 1, 1929 in Garrard County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Bailey & Sally Sebastian Ray. Brooks was a former employee for Stewart’s Department Store. She attended Antioch Christian Church in Lancaster, and enjoyed fishing, cross stitching, and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Gaffney; brothers & sisters, Clyde Ray, Holman Ray, Eugene Ray, Edward Ray, J.D. Ray, Earl Ray, Roger Ray, Paul Ray, Ruby Mucci, Rosa Ray, Betty Howard, and Joyce Clark.

Survivors include her niece, Shirley Broaddus, of Lancaster; brother-in-law, Ralph Gaffney, of Stanford; sisters-in-laws, Jean Lister, and Shirley Scully, both of Lancaster, and several great-nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 29, 2025 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Val McCord officiating, and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Sammy Young, David Adams, Don Rinthen, and Marshall Norton. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the funeral home.
