Danny Mitchell Elam, 74, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 at his home.
Born Sunday, August 5, 1948 in Boyle County to the late William Levi Elam and Mary Lou Tudor Naylor.
Danny was a retired state employee and a former sports editor for Garrard County Central Record for 20 years, he was a member of Lancaster United Methodist Church and attended Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Nicholasville.
Danny was a avid sports enthusiast especially for his Garrard County teams, UK Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a graduate of the Garrard County High School Class of 1966 where he also played high school football. In his younger years, Danny played on many area softball teams and assisted in coaching many local youth ball teams in Garrard County.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Allan Elam.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Parker Elam, of Lancaster; step-son, Jason Todd Riley, of Lexington; step-grandson, Jason Edward Riley, of Lexington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buddy (Gloria) Parker, of Springfield; three step-nieces and one step-nephew; numerous close cousins and friends; and his much loved kitty cat Angel.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Lakes, pastor of Chapel Hill Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lancaster Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Friday, November 4, 2022 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are Jody Metcalfe, Jack Metcalfe, Bruce Middleton, Keith Middleton, Kevin Middleton, J.K. Simpson and Ken Hurt.
