Debra Lynn Howell

Debra Lynn Howell, age 67, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born on May 30, 1957 in South Williamson, Kentucky to the late George and Beatrice Howard Moore, Debra was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith. Debra was the devoted wife of Pastor Gary Howell, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Their love and partnership were an inspiration to many, rooted in their shared faith and commitment to one another. Debra was a loving  mother to her daughter, Christy Lynn Howell (Joe) Sweeney, of Lexington, Kentucky, and her son, George Gary (Bien) Howell, of McDade, Texas. She was immensely proud of her children and the  families they built, always offering them guidance and support. One of Debra’s  greatest joys in life was her most cherished grandchild, George Gary Howell II, of Lancaster, Kentucky. Her bond with her grandson was one of deep affection, and she was a constant source of love and wisdom in his life. Their bond was unbreakable. Throughout her life, Debra was known for her nurturing spirit, her love of family, and her deep faith. She was an active member of her church community at Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church, where she and her husband, Pastor Gary Howell, dedicated much of their lives to serving others.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Gary, a son, George Gary (Bien) Howell of McDade, Texas, a daughter, Christy (Joe) Sweeney of Lexington, her grandson, George Gary Howell II of Lancaster, a brother, Shelby Moore of Pilgrim, Kentucky, as well as four sisters, Virginia Paxton & Gwen Hale of Pilgrim, Kentucky, Catheline Brooks of  Alabama, and Carolyn Harmon of Webbville, Kentucky.

Funeral services for Debra will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2024 by Rev. Vincent Carman at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with visitation taking place from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Gary Howell, Joe Sweeney, Shelby Moore, Terry Howell, Barry Howell, & Vadis “Chip” Gauze and  George Gary Howell II serving as Honorary Pallbearer.
