Donald Merritt, 77, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home. Born to the late Harland & Lily Ann Anders Merritt on Thursday, April 4, 1946 in Somerset. Donald enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends & family, and was a life-long farmer. He also supported the Paint Lick Church of God.
Aside from his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Prather Merritt; daughter, the late Pamela Baker; brothers, the late Denny Merritt, the late Cliffton Merritt, the late James Merritt, the late Tifford Merritt, & the late Kit Merritt; and a sister; the late Mildred Merritt. Survivors include a son, Derek Carswell (Samantha), of Lancaster; daughters, Angela Bowman & Diana Anderson (Jeremy), both of Lancaster; brothers, Oakley Merritt, of Somerset and Wendell Merritt, of London; sisters, Iva Issacs and Joyce Meadows, both of Lancaster, Betty Alexander, of Paint Lick, & Jewell Merritt, of Somerset; grandchildren, Michael (Asha) Baker, Justin (Kala) Baker, Brittany (Mike) Springer, Amanda (Jeff) Styles, Crystal (Eric) Cornelius, Melanie (Johnathan) Jones, Kayla Bowman, Aaron (Kaitlynn) Anderson and Kaylene, Destanii and Novah Carswell; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. David Farthing officiating. Pallbearers include Aaron Anderson, Justin Ray Baker, Michael Robert Baker, Johnathan Jones, Ralph Meadows, and Derek Carswell. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM— 9:00 PM, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
