Edward Gerald "Eddie" Benson, 73, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Eddie was born November 23, 1947 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Gerald Edward Benson, and Clara Wood Benson Carmack . He was a retired bus driver, spent many years as a charter bus driver, and was a United States Army veteran. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa (Dan) Jones.
His survivors include his wife, Jeannean Lantz Benson, of Lancaster: son, Matt (Hollie) Benson, of Colorado; daughters, Jody (Shawn) Sanford, of Nevada, Patrice “Trish” (Rob) Matthes, of South Carolina; step sons, Robert and Scott Hickman, of Tennessee; step daughter, Brandy Quick of Idaho; brothers, Gary Carmack, of South Carolina, and David Carmack, of Virginia; sisters, Linda (the late John) Thompson, of Lancaster, Brenda (the late Robert) White Eagle, of Salamanca, New York, Barbara (Steve) Boehm, of Utah, Anna Enzbrenner, of Colorado; grandchildren, Daniel, Stephanie, Christopher, Nicholas, Zachary, Skylar, Riley, Ariel, Khai, Alyssa, Matthew, Audrey, Rachel, Robert, and many great-grandchildren. Eddie’s wishes for cremation will be honored and an inurnment with full military rites will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at a future date.
