Edward Sherrill Arnold, Jr., 64, of Berea, Kentucky passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 7, 1961, in Lancaster, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Edward Sherrill Arnold, Sr., and Nila Ruth Grow Arnold. Edward grew up in Louisville and attended Kenwood Elementary School until 1973 at which time the family moved—returning to the maternal family farm of his grandparents, Elvin and Hallie B. Grow near Mt. Hebron and Sugar Creek in Garrard County. He completed elementary and junior high school at Camp Dick Robinson and graduated from Garrard County High School in 1980. He was a member of Scott’s Fork Christian Church in Garrard County. Edward worked a variety of jobs throughout Central Kentucky before concluding his working career at Hitachi in Berea, where he remained employed until declining health required his retirement in 2018. He enjoyed country music, raising Collies and German Shepherds, and the simple pleasures of life. He is most remembered for sitting on the front porch and always having a friendly wave ready for neighbors and strangers alike as they passed by. Survivors include his loving wife of the last ten years, Virginia Ballard Arnold of Berea; two sons, Quentin Arnold (Amanda) of Lexington, Edward Arnold III (Melissa S.) of Richmond; one daughter, Miranda Dailey (Allen) of Cynthiana; a stepson, Landon Arnold of Berea; sisters, Camille Novak (Bob) of Maryland Heights, MO, Alison Arnold of Lexington, nephews, Harry Arnold of Oneida, TN and Henry Arnold of Lexington; brother, Robert Arnold of Stanford; maternal aunt, Wilma Duncan Grow Miller of Dale, Texas; and paternal aunt, Betty Ruth Haney Arnold of New Albany, Indiana and many more cousins and extended family. Services will be held at Ramsey—Young Funeral Home 315 Richmond St, Lancaster, KY 40444. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6pm until 8pm for visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with family friend, Brother James Alexander of Church on The Rock, Berea, officiating. A graveside committal service will immediately follow at Lancaster Cemetery. Friends & family may share memories or leave condolences on Edward Arnold’s tribute wall at: www.ramsey-young.com.
