Elsie Carrier Broaddus, 93, passed away on November 4, 2024, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born to the late Mattie Cobb & Jess Carrier, Sr. on December 15, 1930, in Garrard County. Elsie enjoyed quilting, traveling, University of Kentucky sports, and was a Cincinnati Reds fan. She was a graduate of Buckeye High School and Spencerian College. Elsie worked as a bookkeeper for the Garrard County Extension office, the Garrard County stock yards, Garrard County Water Association, and for Teater Brothers for many years. She was a faithful member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church, where she had served as treasurer.
Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard Carrier, Jess Carrier, Jr., Harold Carrier, and O’Neal Carrier; sisters, Nancy Ray, Dorothy Grider, Betty Ann Edgington, Bertie Kirkpatrick, and Gladys Mae Ray. Survivors include several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2024, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Rhodus & Steve Horn officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kevin Wade, Jimmy Rousey, Bruce Jefferies, Wesley East, Will East, and Mike Bolin. Honorary pallbearers include Randy Carrier, Arthur Teater, Ray Johnica, Woody Leavell, John Teater, Keith Middleton, Kevin Middleton, and her Sunday School Class at Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
