Gladys Warren Richardson, 94, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. Gladys was born at home on a farm in Garrard County on April 23,1932 to Millard Pierce Warren and Bertha Mercer Warren. In the third grade the family moved to Lincoln County where Gladys graduated in 1950 from Stanford High School. After high school, she went to work at Cowden’s Manufacturing Company in Lancaster where she sewed pockets and hammer loops on blue jeans. She met Gene, who was a bundle boy, and on January 16, 1954 they got married in Jellico, Tennessee. She was a stay at home babysitter and later worked at American Greetings for 13 years. In 1987, they built a house and entered retirement. She loved camping, sewing, and gardening.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Evelyn McQueary and Helen Eifert, a brother Donald Warren, her husband Gene, her daughter Cindy Gilliam and a son in law Steve Amsler.
She leaves behind a legacy of family to cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Amsler, Pam (Tommy) Cornelius, and Sherrie (Kenny) Johnson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Amy Gilliam, Jeremy (Ashley) Cornelius, Eric (Crystal) Cornelius, Jacob (Crystal) Gilliam, Kristyn Amsler (Joe) Isaac, Hilary Cornelius, Jonah (Abby) Johnson and Hannah (Matt) Cooke and fourteen great grandchildren Landon, Adasyn, Blake, Kameron, Lily and Easton Cornelius, Greyson and Everly Gilliam, Vivian and Stella Isaac, Walker, Magnolia and Banks Johnson and Claire Cooke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Cooke officiating, and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jeremy, Eric, Landon, and Kameron Cornelius, Jacob Gilliam, and Jonah Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
