Glenn Edward Watkins, 89, of Lancaster passed away peacefully at home on the morning of July 11th, 2024 surrounded by his family. Glenn was born July 2nd, 1935 in Garrard County, KY to the late Adolph and Annie Ruth (Lee) Watkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sarah (Sally) Tudor Watkins.
Glenn made a living by farming the land of his ancestors, raising burley tobacco and registered Angus beef cattle. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and raising beautiful flowers. He was a longtime, faithful member of Hyattsville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Wayne. Along with his wife, he is survived by four sons, Tony Len (Bonnie) Watkins of Nicholasville, Russell Dale (Megan) Watkins of Campbellsville, Samuel Mark (Tonya) Watkins of Lancaster, and Glenn Avery (Rhonda) Watkins of Lexington. Grandchildren include Jason Watkins, Dillon Shifflett, Spencer Carrico, Cassidy (Chance) Lane, Nathaniel Watkins, and Caleb Watkins, along with six great-grandchildren. Other surviving family include sisters Geneva (Ernest) Broaddus and Linda (Gerald) Price along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 12th from 5-8 pm. A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, July 13th at 11 am. The service will be led by Glenn’s sons and Pastor Everett Priddy.
Pallbearers will be Tony Watkins, Rusty Watkins, Sam Watkins, Avery Watkins, Jason Watkins, Nate Watkins and Caleb Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the adult men’s Sunday School class of Hyattsville Baptist Church.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Up With Youth Center in Lancaster or to Heritage Hospice.
