James Alfred Gaffney, 94, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at his residence. Born October 28, 1926 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Harrison Gaffney & Mary Frances Chadwell Gaffney., Alfred was a retired technician at IBM, had served his country in the US Army during World War II , and was a member of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William C. & W.H. Gaffney, three sisters, Ada Dailey, Marietta Die & Lucille Oxdyne, as well as three nieces and nephews.
Alfred’s survivors include his wife, Brooks Ray Gaffney of Lancaster, two brothers, Clay Gaffney of Lancaster and Ralph Gaffney of Stanford, two sisters, Jean Lister & Shirley Scully , both of Lancaster, and 14 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Lancaster Cemetery. Ramsey-Young Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Friends and family may leave condolences or special memories on his tribute page at www.ramsey-young.com
