Joseph Douglas “Joey” Johnson, 55, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Saturday, August 6, 1966 in Danville, he was a son of the late Edward Johnson & Jenny Louise Poynter. He worked in maintenance for American Greetings. Joey was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan, & attended Gilbert’s Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Johnson; sister, Margaret Hatcher, & his step-mother, Mary Baker.
Survivors include a son, Dakota Miracle (Alexandria), of Waynesburg; daughters, Jennifer (Jon) Scott & Tiffany (Greg) Whitley, both of Lancaster, Leslie (Darrell) Wooton, of Winchester; brothers, Marvin Johnson, Johnny (Del-leda) Johnson, Huey (April) Egner, Edward (Denisha) Johnson, Jason Johnson; sisters, Barbara (Albert) Ball, Susan (John) Arnold, Meredith (Bill) DeBord, Michelle (Brad) Hollifield, Sherry Johnson (John Grimes); grandchildren, Jayla, Lucas, Chasdon, Landon, Myla, Greysyn, Holden, Silas, Luther & David; great-grandchild, August, a host of nieces, nephews, & great nieces & nephews, as well as a special dog, Belle.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Friday, June 24, 2022 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Daryl Hodge officiating & burial following at Goshen Cemetery. Pallbearers include Edward Johnson, Bill DeBord, Steven DeBord, Billy DeBord, Kevin Arnold, Derek Johnson, & Jason Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Debbie Baker, William George Ball, John Arnold, & the maintenance crew at American Greetings. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the funeral home.
