Joseph “Richard” Edgington, 70, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born on Friday, March 27, 1953 in Garrard County, he was a son of Louise Naylor Edgington of Lancaster & the late J.F. Edgington. Richard was a carpenter by trade, and enjoyed hunting & fishing. He liked vegetable gardening, playing guitar & spending time with his grandchildren. Richard was a member of Collard Valley Baptist Church in Cedartown, Georgia.
Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Lisa Hale Edgington, of Lancaster; son, Richie Edgington (Jennifer Frazier) of Nicholasville; daughter, Emili Edgington (Ethan Whited) of Stanford; brother, Curtis (Deronia) Edgington of Lancaster; sisters, Cindy (Jerry) Rogers & Barbara (Wayne) Ray Both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Bret, Madison, Sophie, Iris; step-grandchildren, Jace, Jaxten, Jett & Axel.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Benefield & Bro. Josh Sparks officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Bill & Doug Hale, Jonathan Aldridge, Bret Edgington, Kevin Austin & Darrell Edgington. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until service time on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the funeral home. In lieu of lowers, contributions may go to Ramsey-Young Funeral Home to offset funeral cost.
