Josephine Gaffney

Josephine Gaffney, 78, of Danville, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 in Lexington.  Born July 7, 1947 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late General Lafayette Sowder & Sadie Bugg Sowder.  Josephine was a retired employee of American Greetings Corporation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George & Lester Sowder.

Her survivors include two daughters, Terri (Eric) Adams of Lancaster, Paula (Travis) Taylor of Junction City, a brother, David Sowder of Madison County, a sister , Dorothy Chadwell of Lincoln County,  as well as 5 grandchildren, Nicole (Curt) Isaacs,  Matthew (Kristan) Adams, Patrick Adams, Trevor Taylor, McKenna Taylor and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 24, 2025 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with burial following at Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
