Kenneth Dale Moore, 84, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 at his home in Lancaster. He was born to the late Floyd and Leshan Whitt Moore on Friday, November 26, 1937 in Warfield, KY. Dale attended Inez High School and went to Eastern KY University on a 4-year basketball scholarship. He married Barbara Holton on August 16, 1959. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals professional basketball team before also being drafted by the Army to serve two years in Thailand. Following his military service, Dale's father-in-law put a golf club in Dale's hands and changed his life forever. Homer Profitt took Dale under his wing, teaching him the game. Dale then began to beat his teacher, becoming an avid golfer. He was one of the original members of Dix River Country Club, going on to win over 100 tournaments statewide. In addition to his golf awards, in 2004 Dale was elected into the Dawahares KHSAA Basketball Hall of Fame.
Dale taught in the Lancaster school system and taught and coached in Stanford, Paint Lick, and Buckeye. He was the first to coach high school basketball after the consolidation of high schools in Garrard County. He was on the Board of Logan Hubble Park and a member of Lancaster Methodist Church.
Dale's family would like to especially thank Matt Barsotti for his recent time spent playing golf with Dale, allowing him to continue enjoying the game he loved so much.
