Lucy Mae Hurd Ballard, age 89, was carried away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2022. She was born April 4, 1933 to the late Charlie and Lily Mae Hurd in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. Lucy was loved for her deep faith, her playful sense of humor, and quick wit. She loved to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed McDonalds bingo and walking. Lucy was always up for an adventure with her friends, and she was a devoted member of the Preachersville Methodist Church.
Lucy married Carles Lynn “Red” Ballard on December 23, 1954, and they were married for 57 years. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends. In addition to her parents & late husband Carles, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, James W. Hurd, Charles Bernard Hurd, & John Edward Hurd, a daughter –in-law, Andrea Lynn Ballard.
She is survived by her son, Ricky (Shannon) Ballard, daughter, Lisa (Daryl) Seybold, grandchildren, Chasity (AJ) Paris, Jason (Katie) Seybold, Amanda Seybold Jennings, Melissa (Jonathan) Aldridge, Tyler Seybold (Amber Adams), Alicia (Jamison) Teater, and Katie Smith (Sean Bagnall). Great-grandchildren include, Audrey, Alexander, and Asher Paris, Zachary and Zoey Seybold, Sarah Mae and Samuel Jennings, Marcus, Andrew, and Maryanne Aldridge, Aiden, Eli, Grayson, and Maddax Seybold, and Jaxon Teater as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Hazelwood officiating and burial to follow at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include, Daryl Seybold, Ronnie Hurd, AJ Paris, Jason Seybold, Zachary Seybold, and Jonathan Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
