Mildred Layton

Mildred Faye Tyree Layton, 86, of Greencastle, Indiana, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Monday October 28, 2022 in Vigo County, Indiana. Born Tuesday, August 11, 1936 in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley C. & Clara B. Tyree. Mildred was a homemaker, and enjoyed flower gardening. She was a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church in Harrodsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Mack Layton; brother, Merle Tyree; sister, Norma Benge.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Angela) Layton, of Greencastle, Indiana; brother, J.W. (Chris) Tyree, of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandon Layton, Brittney Payne, Kaitlen Hitt; great-grandchildren, Brandon Layton, Jr., Koupe Payne, Nash Payne, and a host of nieces & nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Lancaster Cemetery with Bro. Skylar Fields officiating and burial to follow. Pallbearers include Eddie Layton, Jeremy Guelda, Mark Layton, Michael Layton, Michelle Tyree, & Johnny Payne. Honorary pallbearers include her brother, J.W. Tyree.
