Nancy Hume Young, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 8, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Charlie & Lois Sebastian Hume. She was married to her loving husband, Robert Young for almost 62 years — (25 days shy). Nancy worked at many establishments over the years, her first job was a box office attendant selling tickets at the Grand Theater in Lancaster, at the age of 15. She went on to hold positions at the sewing factory in Wilmore, Sowder Hardware (Garrard Hardware), NNCC—Incorporated, Builder’s Supply in Stanford, and worked for the family business, Young’s Cabinet Shop. Nancy was a faithful member at Lancaster Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir. She loved showing walking horses, trail riding, and going camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hume; sister, Carol Jean Ray; sister-in-law, Betty Christopher, and a brother-in-law, Ray Young, Jr.
Survivors aside from her husband Robert include a son, Robert Good Young, Jr. of Lincoln County; brother, Jackie (Vickie) Hume of Lancaster; sister, Patsy (the late Robert) Bailey of Harrodsburg; sister-in-law, Shirley Coyle and Debbie (Steve) Rhodus both of Lancaster, JoAnn Young of Berlington; brother-in-law, Paul Christopher of Nicholasville; grandchildren, Priscilla Young, and Kyle Ray (Alexis) Young; great-grandchildren, Austin Birchfield, Justin Slone, Chloe Slone, and Ivy Lawrence, and one great-great-grandchild, Laken Grace Birchfield.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan Grizzell officiating, and burial following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers include Steve Rhodus, Daniel Rhodus, Michael Christopher, Mike Coyle, Jalen Coyle, and Jared Coyle. I lieu of flowers, contributions may go to Heritage Hospice.
