Peggy Swope Moss, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. Born on March 13, 1941, in Perryville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Hardin Swope & Mary Thomas Bugg Swope. Peggy was a former teacher for Garrard County High School, and a member of Lancaster Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, and was a member of the Jessamine County Piece Quilters, and was a former member of the Lancaster Women’s Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Moss, her son, Patrick Moss, a brother, Benny Swope, and her beloved dog, Buttercup.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Moss of New York City, New York, and Andrea (Bruce) Freeman of Richmond, Kentucky; brothers, Bruce Swope and Alvin Swope both of Lancaster; sisters, Helen Schmutte of Indiana, and Janet Anderson of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Anna Freeman of Richmond, and Ella Freeman of Louisville, as well as several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Lancaster Christian Church, with Bro. Jiann Burford officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery.
