Phyllis Jean Hicks, 81, of Garrard County, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. Born on Monday, April 14, 1941 in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer & Veda Matlock Wilmot. Phyllis was the Head of Medical Records at Garrard County Hospital for over 30 years. She also enjoyed vegetable & flower gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hicks & her son, Michael Hicks.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry (Durand) Brown, of Garrard County; brother, Eddie (Kay) Wilmot, of Berea; sister, Rhonda (Kenneth) Ellis, of Garrard County; grandchildren, Amy (Kenny) Allen, of Garrard County, Quince (Jaylan Sowders) Hicks, of Lincoln County; great-grandchildren, Noah (Hannah) Allen, Olivia Allen, MaKenna Allen, Warren Hicks, Ollie Kate Napier, a host of special nieces & nephews, and her beloved dog, Carley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Daryl Hodge officiating and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Durand Brown, Amy Allen, Noah Allen, Olivia Allen, MaKenna Allen & Quince Hicks. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions go to Heritage Hospice.
