Ralph Grimes, 97, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Thomson Hood Veteran’s Center in Willmore, Ky. Born to the late Dan & Russell Smith Grimes on May 19, 1926, in Wilmore, Ky. Ralph was a retired heavy equipment operator, a proud Army Veteran, a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and enjoyed woodworking and flag making.
Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, the late Dorothy Grimes sons, the late Samuel Grimes, the late Gary Grimes, and the late Russell Grimes; a step-son, the late Glenn Preston; brothers, the late Donald Grimes and the late Charles Grimes; sisters, the late Minnie Smith and the late Mary Belle Allen. Survivors include daughters, Sue (Michael) Pasmore, Linda Martin, and Robin (Wayne) King, all of Nicholasville; a son, Ralph Wayne Grimes, of Wilmore; step-children, Linda Yadao and Bill Preston, both of Lancaster; a brother, Bill (Carol) Grimes, of Lancaster, sisters, Tommye Davidson and Vela (Cricket) Walter, both of Nicholasville; as well as 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, September 8, 2023, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with burial following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers include Rod Grimes, Brian Jones, Gary King, Cade Grimes, Paul Rigsby, and Michael Pasmore. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until funeral time on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the funeral home.
