Ronnie G. Wardrip, 74 of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born on October 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Bobby Wardrip & Emily June Lynn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole Wardrip, and his sister, Susan Gambrel. Ronnie “R.G.” was a true legend. He dedicated his life to serving others — retiring as a Major in the United States Army, retiring from the Kentucky State Police, then proudly serving as Garrard County Sherrif for 16 years. He most recently served as Director of Court Security, in Garrard County. He was a master mason at the Breathitt County, Blue Lodge, a member of the Kentucky Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and an active member of Hyattsville Baptist Church in Lancaster. Ronnie was well known for his compassion and steady leadership. He had a great love for the people of Garrard County. His impact on the community is immeasurable, and his legacy of service, integrity and kindness to all will live on for generations. The one’s lucky enough to work alongside or for him will never forget the impact he had on their lives.
Survivors include his daughter, Brandi Bramblett; grandchildren, Spencer Isaacs, Olivia Wardrip, and Rowan Wardrip; niece, Leanna (Tim) Miller; brother-in-law, Lonnie Gambrel; step-mother, Joyce Wardrip; great-grandchildren, Aria Wells, Kinleigh Isaacs, and Jaxon Isaacs.
Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Hyattsville Baptist Church, and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025, at Hyattsville Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Leadingham officiating, and burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers include Spencer Isaacs, Rowan Wardrip, Riley Miller, Butch Canter, Keith & Kevin Middleton, Gerald Grubbs, and Judge Hunter Daugherty. Honorary pallbearers include the past & present Garrard County Sherrifs & the Kentucky State Police. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ronnie’s memory may go to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
